There are several companies that compete with Databricks in the field of big data analytics and cloud computing. Some of these competitors include Cloudera, Snowflake, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

A Database Manager That Is Modern, Fast, & Easy To Use

Tried a few tools. Beekeeper was the only one that I found that felt right. Most had a very 1990's feel to them - Allan

I built Beekeeper Studio because, like Allan, I wanted something more intuitive and modern than all the existing clunky apps I could find. My customers agree - they love using Beekeeper and they tell me every day! Give it a try, I bet you'll like it too.

Beekeeper's Linux version is 100% full-featured, no cut corners, no feature compromises.

Cloudera vs Databricks

Cloudera is a leading provider of enterprise data management and analytics software. Their platform allow organizations to store, process, and analyze vast amounts of data using a variety of technologies, including Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Impala. Cloudera also offers professional services and support to help organizations deploy and maintain their data systems. Unlike Databricks they are more focused on self-hosted infrastructure, and less focused on a notebook and analytics UI.

Snowflake

Snowflake is the third competitor to Databricks, and arguably the biggest. Unlike Databricks, Hortonworks, and Cloudera, Snowflake’s primary business is providing a fully managed high performance data warehouse. Under the hood, much of the same technologies power Snowflake that power Databricks and Spark, but while Databricks leans heavily into Spark and data processing technologies, Snowflake focuses on providing a standardized SQL interface, and easy to use SQL dashboard.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

AWS is another major competitor to Databricks. As a leading cloud computing provider, AWS offers a wide range of services and tools for storing, processing, and analyzing large amounts of data. Its big data services include Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR), which is based on the Apache Hadoop and Spark open-source projects, and Amazon Kinesis, which allows organizations to process and analyze streaming data in real time. AWS also offers a variety of other services, such as notebooks, data lakes, data warehouses, and machine learning tools. You can also run Databricks on AWS.

Databricks Competitors Summary

Overall, Databricks faces significant competition from other companies in the big data analytics and cloud computing space. While it has established itself as a leader in the field, it will need to continue to innovate and differentiate itself in order to stay ahead of its competitors.
